Refer to this knowledge base article for more information. The steps to fixing the "Invalid Keycode" error are listed below: WARNING========== The following resolution involves editing the registry. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall the Windows operating system. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. For information about how to edit the registry, view the 'Changing Keys And Values' online Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe). Note that you should make a backup copy of the registry files (System.dat and User.dat on Win9x computers) before you edit the registry. ==================== 1. Ensure that Visual Studio .NET is closed. 2. On the 'Start' menu, click 'Run'. Type 'Regedit' and click 'OK'. The Registry Editor appears. 3. NOTE: The subkeys are slightly different for VS.NET 2002 and VS.NET 2003 For VS.NET 2002 navigate to the following subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Crystal Decisions\Crystal Reports\VSNET\Keycodes\CR NET For VS.NET 2003 navigate to the following subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Crystal Decisions\Crystal Reports\VSNET\Keycodes\CR9 NET 4. Right-click on the '(Default)' key and select 'Modify'. 5. Copy the entire keycode below and paste it into the 'Value Data:' field overwriting the existing value. With the 'Serial' key open, delete the value in the 'Value Data' field so that it is empty and click 'OK' 8. Close the Registry Editor. 9. Reload the project in VS.NET.
